Obituary

DON ROBERT HOOVER, 77, of Peterson, Iowa passed away Friday, August 1, 2008 at his home in Peterson, Iowa.

Memorial services will be held Friday, August 8th, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Congregational Church in Peterson, Iowa. Pastor Charles Hall will officiate. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery at Peterson, Iowa. There will be military rites at the graveside. The remains were cremated. The family will be present at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until service time. On line condolences may be sent to www.boothbyfuneral.com. The Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee is in charge of the arrangements.

Don "Bob" was born February 26, 1931 at Peterson, Iowa to Donald E. and Violet (Walsh) Hoover. He graduated from Peterson High School in 1949. He attended Buena Vista Technical College for one year studying business and accounting. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1952 until 1954, being discharged as a sergeant. He was married to Janet K. Kracht on March 26, 1961 at Peterson, Iowa. He owned and operated Don's Super Service in Peterson for many years until it was destroyed by fire on November 3, 1992. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Peterson, Iowa and a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Abu-Bekr Shrine Temple, the Scottish Rite, the Spencer ATV Corp., and the Dean Underwood
Post #10 of the American Legion at Peterson. He enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren, riding with the ATV Corp., watching NASCAR and driving the loop in Peterson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Janet Hoover on May 5, 1994, a sister Betty Anderson, and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

He is survived by two daughters: Donna Rushton and her husband Ron of Peterson, Iowa; Barbara Adams and her fiancé Bob Miller of Milford, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, a brother-in-law Lowell Anderson of Laurens, Iowa; an uncle Robert Hoover of Minnesota; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.
