Obituary

DONALD K.  DOMINA , 72, of Sioux City, Iowa, formerly of Washta, Iowa, passed away Monday evening, November 5, 2018 at Unity Point Health-St. Luke's in Sioux City, Iowa.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday. November 10 th , at 11 a.m. at the Washta United Methodist Church in Washta, Iowa. Pastor Barb Dinelli will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset View Cemetery at Washta, Iowa with military rites by L.A. Wescott Post #2253 of the V.F.W. and the Cherokee American Legion. Visitation will be on Friday from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. with the family present from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home at Cherokee, Iowa. Don was born on March 8, 1946 at Onawa, Iowa to Clifton and Lillie (Miller) Domina. He grew up in the Castana, Whiting, Hornick, and Climbing Hill area, graduating from Moville High School in 1964. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1965 until 1969, being discharged as a Sergeant. He then joined the 185 th Air National Guard in Sioux City, Iowa and was part of the 185 th Air Refueling Wing from October of 1987 until retiring in February of 2008. Don had worked in Sioux City for State Steel and Interbake Foods for several years. He was married to Sandra Camarigg on December 31, 1979 at Salix, Iowa.  He had also worked for Simonsen's Inc. in Quimby, Iowa for several years. Following the passing of his wife Sandra on May 17, 2016, he was later married to Julia Martin on July 16, 2016 and they lived in Sioux City, Iowa.

Don enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards, watching Nascar on TV, and decorating his house at Christmas time. He especially loved the time he spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a proud member of the Elks Lodge #112 in Sioux City, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sandra, a daughter Crystal Borer, granddaughter Mariah Beaumier, son-in-law Jerome Vondrak, brother Clifton Orville Domina, sister LaDonna Rowell, brothers-in-law Kenneth Alderson and Gary Kendall.

He is survived by his four children: Cameile Vondrak of Pierson, Iowa; Carla Murphy of Marcus, Iowa; Sheila (Mike) Beaumier of Washta, Iowa; Shari (John) Orr of Sherwood, Oregon; 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; his wife Julia of Sioux City, Iowa and his extended second family; his siblings: Dorothy Alderson, Lois (Jim) Brownlee, Phyllis (Jim) LaBarge all of Sioux City, Iowa; Melvin (Nancy) Domina and Delores Kendall both of Omaha, Nebraska; also many nieces, nephews and friends.
