DONALD W. WIESE , 94, of rural Larrabee, Iowa, passed away Monday morning, July 16, 2018 in the Accura Healthcare at Cherokee, Iowa.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, July 20th, at 11 a.m. at the Cleghorn Presbyterian Church in Cleghorn, Iowa.
Pastor Bob Blair will officiate. Burial will be prior to the service on Friday morning at 9:30 a.m. at the O'Brien-Liberty Cemetery at Calumet, Iowa. The burial is open to any friends or relatives that would like to attend. There will be a family prayer service at 10:45 a.m. at the church on Friday.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. with the family present from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa.

He was born on April 23, 1924 at to Carl Henry and Emma Louise (Schmidt) Wiese. He was baptized on May 18, 1924 at the Evangelical Lutheran Church north of Meriden, Iowa. He was confirmed on April 17, 1938 at the Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church in Calumet, Iowa . Donald graduated from Meriden High School in 1942 and farmed with his dad in the Meriden area. On October 27, 1945 he married Vera Marie Nielsen at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church parsonage in Remsen, Iowa. He farmed in the Cleghorn and Meriden area until 1976 when they moved to north of Larrabee to the Wiese Century Farm in O'Brien County.
Donald served on the Cleghorn Presbyterian church board, Meriden School Board, Chairman on the Meriden Community Building board for many years, and sealed corn for the ASC office in Sheridan and part of Rock Township.
He loved to go fishing either in Canada or the lakes area. He also loved to play cards, listening to polka music, and going on picnics at Martin's Access or Bruce's Pond with the kids and grandkids or just having a wienie roast in the grove.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Vera of almost 71 years in 2016, his son Duane in 2013, his sister and brother-in-law Bernice and Ted Johnson.
He is survived his daughter: Carolyn Wiese of Larrabee, Iowa; a daughter-in-law: Linda Wiese of Alta, Iowa; grandchildren: Quinn (John) Woods, Aaron (Kelly) Wiese, Pastor Sue Lynn (Brian) White, Troy (Jen) Wiese, Brent Wiese, and Nathan Wiese; great grandchildren: Zac Woods, Taylor Woods, Chase Wiese, Seamus White, Connor White, Robert White, and Duncan White, Ryan Wiese, Kylee Wiese; two step-great grandchildren Evan and Macaib Appleby, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
