DONNA  A.  CONLEY, 90 , of Cherokee, Iowa passed away on Monday, January 10 ^th at the Gardens Assisted Living.

Memorial graveside services will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the Cedar Cemetery just south of Larrabee, Iowa. Pastor Doug Federhart will officiate.  The Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa is assisting the family with the arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com .

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Donna's name to the Alzheimer's Association, The Gardens Assisted Living or Cherokee Regional Hospice.

Donna was born on April 23, 1931 to Mildred and Loren (Perkins) Joy at Correctionville, Iowa. After high school, she went to work at the phone company in Correctionville, Iowa City, and then Santa Ana, California.  Donna met Frank Carlson Sr. and they were married in 1954.

Frank Sr. always wanted to live in California so away they went. On April 15, 1959, Frank was killed in a car accident with three other co-workers.  Donna returned to Cherokee to raise her children and be around family.  She began working at a chiropractic office and then started to work for Central Trust Bank.

In 1976, she met and married Howard Gould, who died the following year after a brief illness.  In 1978, Donna suffered the loss of her daughter, Cindy to cancer.  "Life goes on" Cindy told us family members. As Donna continued to work at the bank, in 1986 she met Ronald Conley.  They were married on January 1, 1987.  Donna worked at the bank until retiring in 1991.

Donna and Ron enjoyed working on house projects together and wintering in Mesa, Arizona until Ron's death in 2015.  She was an avid walker, games player and a very competitive person.  She loved playing golf and going to her favorite pizza place, Godfathers.  She ordered a personal pan with everything on it but NO mushrooms

She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, daughter Cindy, sister Doris (Cliff) Carlson of Aurelia, Iowa, and brother-in-law Darrell Weiland.

She is survived by her son, Frank Carlson Jr. of Minneapolis, Minnesota; sister Diane Weiland of Hinton, Iowa; four step-daughters, Deb (Neil) Nieman of Fargo, North Dakota, Pam (Norm) Alm of Bend Oregon, Patti (Andy) Carlson of Cherokee, Iowa and Ronda (Dexter) Brison of Bend, Oregon; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
