M. DOREEN FUHRMAN, 93, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Tuesday, December 1st, at her home in Cherokee.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 4th, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Cris Decious will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset View Cemetery at Washta, Iowa at a later date. Visitation will be on Thursday from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa with the family present from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com

Doreen was born November 29, 1922 in Willow Township, Cherokee County, Iowa. to George and Iva (Hatch) Witcombe. Her childhood years were spent in the Washta area where she attended country school. She was married to Walter Fuhrman in Cherokee, Iowa. Doreen was a stay at home mom and a caregiver at Mann's Nursing Home. She worked at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital for 18 years as an aide, later transferring to the housekeeping department and retired two weeks prior to her 80th birthday in 2002. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. She volunteered with the V.F.W. Ladies at local nursing homes and helped with the Share Program. She enjoyed doing embroidery on tea towels, caring for her family and loved reading cookbooks. Doreen made the best pies, home cooked meals and loved to put up her garden produce.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walter on July 23, 1986, two daughters Janet and Janice Fuhrman, a son Gary Fuhrman, a sister Lylis Sargent and her husband Chet, brother Wayne Witcombe, a great grandson Mason Peterson and a son-in-law Ronald "Tiny" Messerole.
She is survived by daughter Gayle Messerole of Spirit Lake, Iowa and her family, son Tyler (Erica) Messerole and their children Kelsey and Joseph. Daughter Teri (Marty) Soole and their sons Marty, Jeff (Chrissy) Michael and J. T. Soole. Son Todd (Donna) Messerole and their daughters Amanda (Tyler) Maynard and son Miles and Hannah Messerole.
Daughter Jeannette (Robert) Grant of Cherokee and her family, daughter Kim (Dean) Kohler and her sons Blake and Andy Brandt. Son John (Erin) Grant and daughter Charley Jean.
Son Gerald Fuhrman of Cherokee and his son James (Thersia) Fuhrman and their children MyKenzee, Aslynn and Ayden.
Family of deceased son Gary, son Jeffrey (Denise) Fuhrman and their children Alexis and Carter, son Jason (Jenni) Fuhrman, son Tim Fuhrman and his sons Kris, Kyle, Alex and Tristen, daughters Trinity and Tara and her two daughters and 3 sons. Daughter Tori (Michael) McMaster and her sons Justin, Taylor and Bailey Wasden. Daughter Melissa Barnes (Dean Zahnley) and her daughter Megan (Matt) Heubrock and their children Kaleigh,Brooke, Colton and Brynleigh, son Miles (Alissa) Zollman.
