DORIS L. WATSON, 85, of Sioux City, Iowa passed away Sunday, May 11, 2014 at Cherokee Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 15th, at 11 a.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church in Sioux City, Iowa. Rev. Del Olivier will officiate. Burial will be at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Aurelia, Iowa at 3 p.m. on Thursday with coffee and bars after the graveside service at the Aurelia Community Center. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2 .m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Visitation will continue at the Church on Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Doris was born July 5, 1928 in Amherst Township, Cherokee County, Iowa to Otto Sigurd Nelson and Marie A. (Wilkens) Nelson. She graduated from Aurelia High School in 1946. She attended N.B.T. in Sioux City, Iowa and received an accounting degree. She was married to Bernen Blair Watson on June 29, 1947 at Sioux City, Iowa. She had lived in Sioux City, Iowa since 1946 and was originally from Aurelia, Iowa. She worked 43 years for Securities Acceptance (later changed to The Associates) retiring in 1990. She was a member of the Augustana Lutheran Church in Sioux City and member of the Credit Club in which she held district and state offices. She enjoyed golfing at Sun Valley Golf Club, bowling, reading and time spent with her two dogs Buffy and Chipper.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1980, a brother and sister-in-law Kenneth and Lucille Nelson, brothers-in-law Bill Fox and Jerry Drzycimski.
