DOROTHY J. WESTPHAL, 93, of Larrabee, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2026 at Accura Nursing Home in Cherokee, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at Boothby Funeral Home located at 207 E. Main St. in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor John Wesley U. Shungu will officiate. Burial will be in the Cedar Township Cemetery at rural Larrabee, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Dorothy was born on September 26, 1932 to Nicholas and Lillian (Boysen) Weins in South Dakota. She graduated from Calumet Public School in 1951. She was united in marriage on January 18, 1952 to Charles Westphal.

She stayed at home raising their two children, Rick and Teresa and assisting Charles on the farm. She also worked for Cherokee Schools.

She was a member of the Larrabee Methodist Church and actively participated in many church groups.

In her free time she enjoyed fishing, sewing, and baking.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles Westphal, brothers Bob Weins and Jim Weins, and sister Judy Wagner.

Dorothy is survived by her two children Rick and Pam Westphal and Teresa and Randy Newbury; 5 grandchildren Nick and Heather Westphal, Nate and Kate Westphal, Nicole and Matt Hoskinson, Zach and Kaylea Cargin and Cassie Cargin and Oz; great grandchildren Morgan Kinch, Logan Kinch, Ty Westphal, Morgan Westphal, Avery Westphal, Piper Westphal, Trae Hoskinson, Tenley Hoskinson, Taya Hoskinson, Nevaeh Cargin, Zayden Rivers, Killian Cargin, and Beckett Cargin; sisters Ruth Hanson, Joan Anderson, Alice Daniels, Patty Anderson, and Rosemary Osterquist; sisters-in-law Jane Weins and Tess Weins; also numerous nieces and nephews.
