DOROTHY M. THEIDEL, 94, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Monday, March 7, 2011 at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at 12 noon. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church small chapel in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Jim Steen will officiate. Burial will be at Clarendon Hills Cemetery in Darien, Illinois at a later date.
Dorothy was born February 24, 1917 in Chicago, Illinois to August and Anna (Raske) Bennett. She graduated from high school in 1934. She was married to Ewald Theidel on June 19, 1937 in
Chicago, Illinois. She had worked as a secretary for an insurance company in Brookfield, Illinois, retiring in August of 1973. After retiring she worked as a secretary for a real estate agency in Mountain Home, Arkansas and also volunteered for a day care facility in Mountain Home. She had lived in Cherokee since April of 2007, prior to this in Mountain Home, Arkansas for 34 years and was originally from the Chicago area. She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee. She was an energetic, delightful, fun-loving, caring woman who did a lot of things for others.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ewald in 1996; a daughter Nancy Williamson; grand-daughter Kathleen Mitchell and also two sisters.
She is survived by one daughter Lynn Rhoads of Cherokee, Iowa; granddaughter Karen Frazee; great grandchildren: Elizabeth Frazee, Jack Frazee, Sean Mitchell, Kelly Mitchell; nieces Joyce Wickboldt & Janet Meyer.
