DORTHY J. BREDTHAUER, 86, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at Accura Healthcare in Aurelia, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee, Iowa.  Pastor Jonathan Riggert will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee, Iowa.  Visitation with the family present will be held from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church on Friday morning.  Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com.

Dorthy was born on August 30, 1938 in Wolbach, Nebraska to Franklin and Leitha (Eschliman) Dutcher.  She attended elementary country school in Scotia and graduated from Scotia High School in 1957.  After high school, she attended business school.  She was united in marriage to Allen M. Bredthauer on August 3, 1958 at Scotia, Nebraska.

They lived in Omaha, Columbus, and Lincoln, where she worked as an accountant office manager.  They relocated to Cherokee, Iowa, after retiring in 2005.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

In her free time, she enjoyed reading, crocheting, quilting, and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Leitha Dutcher, sisters Ila Douthit and Janet Arnold, and son-in-law, John Beazley, Jr.

Dorthy will be lovingly remembered by her husband Allen of Cherokee, Iowa; children Kay (Steve) Alston of Campbellsville, Kentucky and Joyce Ann (Mark Boltjes fiancé) Beazley of Aurelia, Iowa; five grandchildren Erin (Erick) Davenport, Evan (Yoshiko) Alston, Bryn Alston, Nicholas (Corrine) Beazley, and Haley Beazley; three great grandchildren; brother Nick (Beverly) Dutcher of Scotia, Nebraska.
