Obituary

ELIZABETH SIEKMANN STRASSER WILCOX, 93, of Cleghorn, Iowa, went home to be with her Lord, Friday Morning, December 10, 2010 in the Cherokee Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 15th, at 11 a.m. at the Cleghorn Presbyterian Church. Rev. Ray Kruger will officiate. Private family burial will be in the Meriden Cemetery on Wednesday morning prior to the funeral service. There will be a family prayer service at 10:45 a.m. at the church on Wednesday. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. with the family present from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Online condolences can be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com. The family requests that memorials be made to the Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn School music department.

Elizabeth was born on January 27, 1917 in Johannesburg, South Africa to Frederick & Martha (Garbers) Siekmann. She came to the United States through Ellis Island to obtain her U.S. citizenship. She attended and graduated from school in Chancellor, South Dakota. She was married to Eldon Strasser on February 14, 1940 in Germanton, South Dakota. Eldon passed away on February 9, 1963. She was later united in marriage to Les Wilcox on December 28, 1968 in Cleghorn, Iowa. Les passed away on May 3, 1993. She baked pies for Milts Cafe in Cleghorn and was especially known for her lemon meringue pies. She was a longtime member of the Cleghorn Presbyterian Church, American Legion Auxiliary and Ruth Circle. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, and the activities of her honorary grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both her husbands, two brothers John & Fred Siekmann, and two sisters Paula Plucker & Maggie Wycoff.

She is survived by her three daughters: Joyce Strasser of Sioux City, Iowa; Ruth Strasser of San Mateo, California; Marjorie Ann Strasser of Grimes, Iowa; one brother Dr. Eugene Siekmann and his wife Sally of Sun City, Arizona; several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
