Obituary

ELSIE C. "BABE" TIGGES, 91, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at Cherokee Regional Medical Center in Cherokee, Iowa.

A Celebration of Life service will take place on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa.  Visitation with the family present will be held an hour prior to the service.  Burial will be in the Afton Township Cemetery at rural Cherokee, Iowa.  Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com.

Elsie was born on July 27, 1934 to Theodore and Elsie (Chiles) Webb at Cherokee, Iowa.  She graduated from Wilson High School in 1952.  She attended Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa.   She was united in marriage to Carroll W. Tigges on October 11, 1953 at the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

They lived on the farm until they moved to Cherokee in 2014.

She was a lifelong member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  She was very active in church, teaching Sunday school and bible school, President of women's group, Sunday  school secretary, and pianist.  She was a Cub Scout pack leader and President of the Little League Association in Peterson.

Elsie enjoyed spending time with her family and doing puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her son Roger in 1978, brothers Gilbert, Earl, Darrell, and Willard Webb, sisters Leta Mae in infancy, Velma Jenness, and Darlene Williams, nephew Roland Jenness.

Elsie is survived by her husband Carroll Tigges of Cherokee, Iowa; two sons Mark (Linda) Tigges of Clive, Iowa and Larry (Cindy) Tigges of Lanark, Illinois; daughter Gerri (Tom) Reints of Parkersburg, Iowa; 7 grandchildren Cody (Elizabeth) Tigges of Grinnell, Iowa, Carson (Tarah) Tigges of Hudson, Iowa, Carissa Tigges of Grinnell, Iowa, Tara (Mike) Christians of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Tyler (Kristin) Tigges of London, England, Tate Tigges of Freeport, Illinois, and Mekayla Reints of Grundy Center, Iowa; 11  great grandchildren  Eleanor Tigges, Nelson Tigges, Brady Berg, Eli Tigges, Indy Tigges,  Violet Christians, Theodore Christians, and Marigold Christians , Elliott Tigges, Ever Tigges, Ember Tigges; sister Donna (Rodney) Groepper of Cherokee, Iowa.
