ELSIE VIRGINIA LENZ , 96, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Friday morning, December 4, 2020 in the Cherokee Specialty Care.

Private family services will be held at a later date. It was Elsie's wish to be cremated. There will be no visitation at this time. The Boothby Funeral Home at Cherokee, Iowa is in charge of the arrangements. Online condolences can be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com

Elsie was born on October 13, 1924 in Silver Township, Cherokee County, Iowa to John & Hilma (Mansson) Larson. She graduated from Quimby High School in 1942. She was married to Forrest "Frosty" Lenz on August 22, 1943 at Cherokee, Iowa. They were married for 56 years.

Elsie had worked at the Sears Catalog Store for 6 years and then was the bookkeeper for Lenz Lawn & Logging, which she and her husband co-owned, retiring in October of 1987.

Elsie joined the St. Paul's United Methodist Church in 1945, where she was a funeral coordinator for 7 years. She was also a member of Grace Circle and Joy Circle, and U.M.W., receiving the Methodist Woman's Service Award in 1999. She was a former member of the Cherokee Fire Dolls.

Elsie loved going to sporting events, traveling, needlework, and reading, but most of all, enjoyed being with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frosty on September 24, 1998, brother Harry Larson, sister Vera Larson and a grandson Jason Lenz.

She is survived by her three children: Judy Rose of Jackson, Michigan; Jerry (Jean) Lenz of Loveland, Colorado; Larry (Shelley) Lenz of Cherokee, Iowa; 5 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren.
