EMOGENE CLOVER, 92, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Sunday morning February 6, 2011 in the Country Side Estates in Cherokee.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 9th, at 2 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Ethan Sayler will officiate. Burial will be in the Afton Township Cemetery, rural Cherokee. There will be a family prayer service at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Boothby Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Wednesday with the family present from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Emogene was born November 14, 1918 in rural Cherokee, Iowa to Thomas E "Barney" and Ella (Hill) Smith. She was raised on the farm and went to school in rural Cherokee. She was married to Willis B. Clover Sr. of Aurelia on October 15, 1936 in Cherokee, Iowa. To this union, 2 children were born, Sharon K. Schultz and Willis B. Clover Jr. She worked at the Cherokee Mental Health Institute for several years before moving to Spencer where they resided for 18 years, later moving to the farm in rural Cherokee. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She enjoyed going to the casinos and playing Bingo. She loved being outside and working in her yard and flowers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Willis Sr. in 1986, her son Willis "Billy" Clover Jr. in 1998, son-in-law Melvin Schultz, grandson Mark Dorcas, also 3 brothers and 7 sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Schultz of Fairmont, Minnesota; grandchildren: Tammy Kain, Shelly (Tom) Gunderson, Kurt Schultz, Val (Laureen) Clover, William Clover, Kristen Miller, and Seth Durr; great grandchildren: Josh Kain, Ryan Driehorst, Logan Gunderson, Katy Nutt, Justin Dorcas, Briana Dorcas, Briana Cane, Vicky Clover, Eli Clover, and Helen Clover; 9 great great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
