ESTHER M. BENNETT, 94, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Wednesday morning,
August 11, 2010, in the Country Side Estates in Cherokee.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 14th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Pastor Jim Steen will officiate and burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee, Iowa. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home on Saturday. Esther was born on October 25, 1915 at Peterson, Iowa to George & Clara (Grans) Raveling. She graduated from Peterson High School. She was married to John Doherty on May 1, 1936 at Peterson, Iowa. He passed away on September 19, 1960. She was then married to Marvin Rost on February 28, 1969. He passed away on March 1, 1978. She then married Orlan Bennett on July 26, 1979 at Cherokee, Iowa. He passed away on February 20, 2004. Esther had worked at the Cherokee Creamery, the Hartley Creamery where she was a U.S.D.A. Egg Inspector for several years. She had also worked in housekeeping for the Methodist Manor in Storm Lake and the Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee for many years. She enjoyed working, going to auctions, collecting antiques, and quilting.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

She is survived by her three children: Janice Korleski and her husband Jerry of Cherokee, Iowa; Gary Doherty and his wife Carla Jean of Cherokee, Iowa; Geraldine Tibbetts and her husband Gary of Spirit Lake, Iowa; 5 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren, one sister Evelyn Miller of Sutherland, Iowa; one sister-in-law Jeanette Raveling of Spirit Lake, Iowa; also many nieces and nephews.
