EVANGELINE E. SINS, 94, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Friday morning September 9, 2016 in the Cherokee Specialty Care.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 15th, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Church of Christ in Cherokee. Pastor Tom Lewis will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee, Iowa. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the church on Thursday. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. with the family present from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Evangeline was born on October 24, 1921 at Cleghorn, Iowa to George and Edna (Slaubaugh) Dobson. She graduated from Cleghorn High School in 1939 and was the Class Valedictorian. After graduation, she attended National Business School in Sioux City, and worked at Albertson's for several years. On September 13, 1943 she married Sgt. Joseph Sins of Fertigs, PA. at Salt Lake City, Utah. She was a member and longtime organist of the First Church of Christ in Cherokee. She was also a long-time member of Tone Circle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joseph Sins in 2003, three brothers Arnold, John and Vaughn Dobson; a sister-in-law Irene Dobson.
She is survived by her three children: Joseph (Charlene) Sins of Vadnais Heights, Minnesota; Suzanne (Tom) Zucal of Lenexa, Kansas; Loretta (George) Graham of Kansas City, Missouri; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren: Sarah Little (John Kliegl) of Grandview,Missouri; Michael Bourdelais (Laura) and their children Ryann and Luke of Overland Park, Kansas; Lisa Mussman (Ryan) and their daughter Maelyn of Grandview, Missouri; Andrea Sins (Shane Fairchild) of Lino Lakes, Minnesota; Victoria Sins (Anthony Maisano) of Woodbury, Minnesota; Terry Bourdelais of Littleton, Colorado; Alicia Sins of Vadnais Heights, Minnesota; one brother: Homer (Betty) Dobson of Tracy, Minnesota; two sisters-in-law: Louise Dobson of Sun City, Arizona; Darlene Dobson of Flagstaff, Arizona; also several nieces, nephews and many friends.
