Obituary

EVELYN M. WILSON REINERT, 88, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Friday evening, May 30, 2014 at her home in Cherokee.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 3rd, at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Jon Riggert will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the Church on Tuesday. Visitation will be on Monday from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. On line condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com

Evelyn was born May 3, 1926 at Eldora, Iowa to Earl and Anna (Pagel) Henning. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith on June 6, 1926. She attended country schools thru the eighth grade and graduated from Eldora High School in 1943. She was married to Dayle B. Wilson on October 20, 1947 at Eldora, Iowa. She was a secretary at Eldora High School for four years. Dayle passed away on July 17, 1983. She was married to Floyd Reinert on December 21, 1986 in Cherokee, Iowa. She had lived in Cherokee since 1957. In 1961 she started as a Medical Records Secretary at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee, becoming supervisor in 1971. She retired from the hospital in December of 1987. Since then she has enjoyed gardening, crocheting, cooking and traveling south in the winter. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee. She was a past member of the LWML, BPW and had served on the board of the Cherokee Community Credit Union. She had also been a Cub Scout Den Mother for several years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dayle Wilson, one brother Robert Henning and sister-in-law Rene, a step son Ralph Reinert in 1991 and a brother-in-law Wayne Wilson.

She is survived by her husband Floyd of Cherokee, Iowa; one son Michael (Michelle) Wilson of Ames, Iowa; three grandchildren, Heather (Rodney) Briggs of Ames, Iowa; Diane (David) Metzger of Watertown, Wisconsin; Dayle Wilson of Ames, Iowa; three great grandchildren Aurora, Kirsten and Triston Briggs; one sister-in-law Ella Wilson of Johnston, Iowa; One nephew Jeff (Sandy) Henning of Eldora, Iowa; a step-daughter-in-law Janet Reinert of Ft. Worth, Texas; 6 step-sons: Phillip (Sharon) Reinert of Cherokee, Iowa; Paul (Susan) Reinert of Cherokee, Iowa; Michael (Brenda) Reinert of Alta, Iowa; John (Lorie) Reinert of Cherokee, Iowa; Dale (Lisa) Reinert of Storm Lake, Iowa; Peter (Janet) Reinert of Lakeside, Iowa; 2 step-daughters: Mary Jo (Ted) Cline of Cherokee, Iowa; Elizabeth Reinert of Cherokee, Iowa; 19 step-grandchildren; 21 step-great grandchildren; also very good friends the Fred Fondroy family and Wilma Starkey.
