Obituary

FLOYD E. EHRICH, 88, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Sunday morning, March 8, 2015 in the Cherokee Regional Medical Center.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, March 13th, at 11 a.m. at the Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cherokee. Rev. Ethan Sayler will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery with military rites by L.A. Wescott Post #2253 of the V.F.W. There will be a family prayer service at 10:45 a.m. at the church on Friday. Visitation will be on Thursday from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Floyd was born on October 16, 1926 at Cherokee, Iowa to Harry & May (Rohl) Ehrich. He graduated from Cherokee Wilson High School in 1945. He was a veteran of WW II serving in the 82nd Airborne Division. He was married to Betty Fishman on June 6, 1948 at Cherokee, Iowa. He worked for the Illinois Central Railroad for 7 years, heating and air conditioning business for 15 years, and was a State Farm Insurance Agent for 20 years, retiring on July 1, 1987. He was a member of the Memorial Presbyterian Church, Cherokee Flying Club, Cherokee Country Club, Shriner and had served on the Cherokee City Council for 3 years. Floyd loved flying which he did for 47 years, logging 6157 hours. His pride and joy were his grandkids and great grandchildren. His eyes would light up every time they were around. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing cribbage and cards; took many trips with friends on motorcycles and with sports car; traveled in the motorhome all over the country and enjoyed spending winters in Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Jon Putenson, three brothers Ronald, Laurence and Glen Ehrich; one sister Mildred Moses, also two infant siblings.

He is survived by his wife Betty of Cherokee, Iowa; four children: Don (Sarah) Ehrich of Denver, Colorado; Nancy (Gary) Putenson of Mt. Pleasant, Arkansas; Barbara (Walt) Bergman of Plover, Wisconsin; John Ehrich of Cherokee, Iowa; 6 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two sisters: Arlene (Dick) Deichman of Sarasota, Florida; Lois (Bob) Montgomery of Glendale, Arizona; also several nieces and nephews.
