FRANCIS K. HEMPEL, 65, of Quimby, Iowa passed away Monday, December 5, 2011 due to an apparent heart attack while deer hunting.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 9, 2011 at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Dr. Robert Stout will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. Friday morning at the funeral home. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2011 from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present from 6:30-8 p.m. at Boothby Funeral Home. Francis was born on February 15, 1946 at Cherokee, Iowa to Henry H. & Avis L. (Wright) Hempel. He was a resident of rural Quimby in Pilot Township all his life. He farmed with his dad for many years and later with the Husman Family. He enjoyed World of Outlaws sprint car races, especially the Saturday night races in Jackson, Minnesota, attending the Clay County Fair, hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents and niece Pamela Hempel.
Francis is survived by his brother Dwayne Hempel and his wife Karen of Quimby, Iowa; nephew: Paul Hempel of Quimby, Iowa & great nephew Alexander Hempel of Fort Dodge, Iowa.
