DR. FRANKIE J. ALLENDER, 58, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Monday, July 27, 2009 at his home.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 31st, at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Ray Kruger will officiate. Graveside services will be held Monday, August 3rd, at 10:30 a.m. at the Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery at Davenport, Iowa. Pastor Mike Kelly will officiate. Visitation will be on Thursday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. On line condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com

Frank was born March 5, 1951 in Clinton, Iowa to Frankie and Ardell (Gaarde). He grew up in the Bettendorf area and graduated from Bettendorf High School. He attended the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh and the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. He was married to Carol M. Rocha on June 7, 1975 at Davenport, Iowa. He had lived in Cherokee the past 24 years and operated the Allender Chiropractic Office. Dr. Allender was a great supporter of food for the needy with his annual drive for the Mid-Sioux Food Pantry. He was a member of the Diplomate of Chiropractic Philosophy, Iowa Chiropractic Society, Prescott Group "Big Kahuna" and was member of a pool league. He enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Carol Allender in 2007.

He is survived by three children: Josh Allender and his fiancé Katie Mingus of Cherokee, Iowa; Christine Nordstrom and her husband Kevin of Bettendorf, Iowa; Rebecca Allender and her fiancé Royd Reid of Cherokee, Iowa; 7 grandchildren: Trae, Ameera, Quintin, Forrest, Frankie, Logan and Jaxson; and one brother Marvin Allender and his wife Carol of Tustin, California.
