FREDA L. TOLZIN, 102, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2026 at Cherokee Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Jason Letsche will officiate. Burial will be in the Memory Gardens Cemetery at Cherokee, Iowa. The Boothby Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com.

Freda was born on June 28, 1924 in Quimby, Iowa to Victor & Venis (Hollingshead) Stieneke. She attended school in Quimby and graduated in 1942. She was united in marriage to George Admire and later married to Richard Tolzin. She worked at the Quimby Post Office, Cherokee Hospital, Lundell Manufacturing for many years and worked on the farm with Richard up until his retirement from farming. She was a member and devout follower at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee. She was an avid gardener, loved to go fishing and loved owls. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Freda had a deep love for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George Admire, husband Richard Tolzin, siblings: Frances Meyer, Leonard Stieneke, Donald Stieneke and George Stieneke, and 1 great grandson Matthew Admire.

She is survived by her son Douglas Admire of Cherokee, IA; 3 grandchildren: Kaleb (Haley) Admire of Ankeny, IA, Kimberly O’Conner of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Katie (Nathan) Romig of Cedar Rapids, IA and 7 great grandchildren.
