FREDDY J. CONLEY, 82, of rural Marcus, Iowa., passed away Sunday morning, October 19, 2014 in the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 23rd from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. There will be a prayer service and a time of sharing memories for friends and family at 7 p.m. Thursday evening. Freddy was born on July 2, 1932 at rural Quimby, Iowa to Paul & Bessie (Mileham) Conley. He attended Tilden #7 Country School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in February of 1953 and was discharged in February of 1955 serving during the Korean War. He was married to Evelyn Machac in 1955 in Granger, Texas. He later met Bernadette (Bernie) Mews and spent the rest of his life with her until she passed away in 2005. Freddy farmed most of his life and also owned and operated Conley Sales & Service at rural Marcus, Iowa. He enjoyed cars, fishing, camping, going to sales and auctions.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bernadette (Bernie) Mews Conley, an infant brother Donnie, a brother Bobby, a brother-in-law Richard Lochner
He is survived by his children: Jim (Lynette) Conley of Marcus, Iowa; Dan Conley and his fiance Tina Thomas of Victoria, Texas; Deb (Lyle) Paulsen of Washta, Iowa; Barb Conley of Phoenix, Arizona; Mike Mews of Cherokee, Iowa; Janelle Mews of Cherokee, Iowa; step-children: Georgia (Bob) Brodersen of Paullina, Iowa; Roxy (Dean) Pottebaum of Paullina, Iowa; Marveen (Dan) Sorensen of Pella, Iowa; 20 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; four sisters: Peggy Lochner of Cherokee, Iowa, Pauline (Jerry) Wolcott of Cherokee, Iowa, Nancy (Art) Limberg of Decorah, Iowa, Patti Conley of Cherokee, Iowa, a sister-in-law Mary Lou Conley of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; also several nieces and nephews.
