Obituary

FREDRICK R. LUHMAN, 78, of Aurelia, Iowa, formerly of Newell, Iowa, passed away Wednesday morning, February 4, 2015 in the Cherokee Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 7th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Aurelia First United Methodist Church. Rev. Tom & Nelva Petersen will officiate. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the church on Saturday. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Aurelia First United Methodist Church in Aurelia, Iowa. Fredrick was born on April 5, 1936 in Graettinger, Iowa to William & Edith (Peebles) Luhman. He graduated from Graettinger High School in 1954. He was married to Lavonne Stueve on December 20, 1958 in Graettinger, Iowa. He had lived in Graettinger from 1958-1966; Newell, Iowa from 1966 until moving to Aurelia to live in 2008. Fredrick farmed most of his life, retiring in 2005. He was a member of the Aurelia First United Methodist Church. He would volunteer to help anyone that needed help. He enjoyed line dancing, fishing, solitaire, TV game shows, crossword puzzles, going to 3 & 71 truck stop for Sunday breakfast, going to church, and most of all, time spent with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Lavonne in 2008.

He is survived by his three children: Rick (Cathy) Luhman of St. Louis, Missouri; Lori Luhman of Sac City, Iowa; Gary (Caroline) Luhman of Cherokee, Iowa; 6 grandchildren: Tracy Coombs, Eric Luhman, Justin Coombs, Beth Luhman, Tabitha Luhman and Trevor Luhman; 2 sisters and one brother: Ina Mae ((Bill) Voigt, Marvis (Richard) Duus, and Roy (Gerda) Luhman all of Graettinger, Iowa; also several nieces , nephews and the family would like to extend a special thank you to Dick Vogt and Albert Kreutz.
