GAYLE R. SCOTT, 75 , of Cherokee, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at Unity Point-St. Luke's Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 10, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee, Iowa.  Pastor Jonathan Riggert will officiate.  Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee, Iowa. Public visitation will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church on Thursday, June 9, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The Boothby Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Gayle was born on December 20, 1946 to Haldane and Arlene (Godberson) Scott at Cherokee, Iowa.  He attended Cherokee Schools.  Gayle married Mary Ann Seggerman on July 1, 1966 at the Peace Lutheran Church in Marcus, Iowa.  Gayle worked for Wilson Foods for 30 years until his retirement in 1995.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee, Iowa.  Gayle was a member of Cherokee Ridge Runners, Pheasants Forever, Little Sioux Wildlife Association and Friends of Conservation.

Gayle enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, trapping, and collecting guns. His greatest joy in life were his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, twin brother Dale Scott; son-in-law Randy Halverson, his mother-in-law and father-in-law Leona and Harm Seggerman, two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law.

Left to cherish Gayle's memory are his wife, Mary of Cherokee, Iowa; two daughters, Amy Halverson of Primghar, Iowa and Angie (Mike) Fiedler of Cherokee, Iowa; four grandchildren, Heather (Adam) Pottebaum of Omaha, Nebraska, Derek (Abby) Scott of Cherokee, Iowa, Luke (Jessica) Halverson of Primghar, Iowa, and Ryan (Brittney) Fiedler of Cherokee, Iowa; five great grandchildren, Owen Halverson, Emmett Scott, Mason Halverson, Anna Pottebaum, and Emberlyn Fiedler; brother, Mike (Linda) Scott of Aurelia, Iowa;  two sisters, Connie (Bob) Leuschen of Holstein, Iowa, and Joan Donahue of Sioux City, Iowa; sister-in-law Barb Scott of Cherokee, Iowa; also several nieces and nephews.
