Obituary

Gaylord J. Litterick, 86 years of age, of Beatrice passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at CHI Health Nebraska Heart in Lincoln.

Graveside memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Afton Township Cemetery at Cherokee, Iowa.  Pastor Barb Dinelli will officiate.  The Boothby Funeral Home of Cherokee, Iowa is assisting the family with local arrangements.  Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com.

He was born on July 26, 1938 in Sioux City, Iowa to John and Katharine (Beeney) Litterick. Gaylord married Iris Jackson on May 6, 1961 at the Methodist Church in Aurelia, Iowa. He worked multiple jobs while they started their family before moving to Beatrice in 1969. Gaylord worked several places including Store Kraft and Caspers Construction before joining the Beatrice Fire Department as a fire fighter. He retired after serving the Beatrice community for 22 years. On his days off from the fire department, Gaylord worked for Lee's Floor Covering where he cleaned carpets and fixed vacuums. He enjoyed watching his granddaughters play soccer, westerns, John Wayne, his dogs Ollie and Tex and especially being a great grandfather to his great granddaughters.

Gaylord is survived by his children, Lonnie Litterick, Katie Litterick, both of Beatrice; granddaughters, Emily Dykman and husband Josh, Addie Litterick; great granddaughters, Lauren and Makenna Dykman; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Iris on March 9, 2014; sister, Marilyn Hill; and brother, John Litterick.
