Obituary

On January 29, 2022 George Keats of Chino Valley, Arizona, died at the age of 83.

Private family memorial services will be held at Afton Township Cemetery in Cherokee, Iowa.

George was born to Charles Keats and Marion Gebers in August of 1938.  He married Velma Johnson in May of 1956 and together they raised 5 children; Holly, Cindy, Robert, Terry, and Sonia.  He had 14 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

George worked at Consumer Supply in Storm Lake, Iowa and Neeham Packing Company in Sioux City until he moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1970.  He worked as a union carpenter for Local 1089 out of Phoenix for 50 years.

George loved working on and restoring Corvettes and classic cars and later trucks.  He loved to fix them up and sell them.  He was quite the salesman.  He once spent 8 hours talking to a potential buyer and yes, he sold the car.

George was preceded in death by his father, Charles Keats, his mother, Marion Gebers, sister Patricia Holstein, and grandson, Dino Valazza.

He is survived by his wife, Velma and five children, Holly Jones, Cindy Valazza, Robert Keats, Terry Keats, and Sonia Keats; 13 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren; and sister Peggy Reinkee.
