Obituary

GEORGE FRANCIS PERRIN, 79, of Carroll, Iowa and long time Ames, Iowa resident, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Carroll Health Center.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, April 13th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. The Rev. LeRoy Rupp will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee. There will be military rites at the graveside by L. A. Wescott Post #2253 of the V.F.W. On line condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com

George was born April 2, 1932 in Cherokee, Iowa to George and Margaret (Halford) Perrin. He graduated from Wilson High School in 1955. He enlisted in the U. S. Air Force and attained the rank of Airman First Class, serving during the Korean War. He was married to Mary Deane Hosmer on October 1, 1955. He enrolled at Iowa State College in Ames, majoring in Fish and Wildlife Management. He was employed as a Chemical Technician for the Iowa Department of Transportation from 1960 until retiring in 1999. He enjoyed nature, wildlife, ISU Athletics and which ever team Bret Favre was playing for. He held a special place in his heart for his pet daschunds. He was a lifelong supporter of the Animal Rescue League and National Audubon Society. He was a member of the St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Ames.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1984, mother in 2000 and a brother Roger Perrin in 1957.

He is survived by his eight children: Mike Perrin of Ames, Iowa; Chris Perrin and Becky Voas of Ames, Iowa and children Quinn, Tyler, Zack, Dawson and Grace; Rick Perrin and his wife Kristi of Ames and children Kylie and Ben and great grandchild Colby; Craig Perrin and Raul Olsen of Harlingen, Texas; John Perrin and his wife Marg of Carroll, Iowa and children Adam, Kendall and husband Matt, and Dalton; Lisa Eddins and her husband Ray of Carroll, Iowa and children Ryan and Adam; Chuck Perrin and his wife Kelly of Carroll, Iowa and children Jensyn, Ashtyn and Owen; Deb Ordal and her husband Tim of Ames, Iowa and children Jonah and Jacey.
