GEORGIA L. ANDERSON, 81, of Sioux City, Iowa passed away Thursday evening, July 15, 2010 at Touchstone Living Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 20th, at 2 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Magrey deVega will officiate and burial will be in the Meriden Cemetery at Meriden, Iowa. There will be a family prayer service at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday. Visitation will be on Monday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present from 6:30 p.m. until

Georgia Louise Anderson, the daughter of D. Gordon Heaney and Martha (Miles) Heaney Runnings was born on March 23, 1929 at her grandparent's home of William and Mabel Miles on East Spruce St. in Cherokee, Iowa. Her parents farmed one mile west of Meriden. She was baptized in the Meriden Presbyterian Church on July 17, 1932. She graduated from Meriden High School. She was married to Verland Joseph Anderson on May 17, 1947. To this union there was one son Paul Steven Anderson. Georgia and Verland lived in a small farm house until 1953. In 1953, Georgia worked as an aide at the Cherokee Mental Health Institute, where she attended psychiatric training, graduating in 1956. Moving to Sioux City in 1962, she was a receptionist for Dr's. Gittins, Dvorak & Heinman and later a receptionist for Dr. Richard E. Getman. After her retirement she was a Senior Companion for 17 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Howard Miles Heaney and a brother William Gordon Heaney.

She is survived by her former husband Verland Anderson of Sioux City, Iowa; a son Dr. P. Steven Anderson and his wife Lynette of Yankton, South Dakota; a granddaughter Heather Anderson Budde and her husband Tim of Buffalo, Minnesota; a grandson Brent Anderson of Yankton, South Dakota; 4 great grandchildren Taylor, Mitchell, Hannah and Alexander Budde of Buffalo, Minnesota; a brother David Heaney and his wife Patricia of Petaluma, California.
