Obituary

GERALD FRANKLIN COBURN, 82, of Greeley, Colorado and former long time Cherokee County resident passed away Sunday May 16, 2010 in Greeley, Colorado.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, September 2nd, at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Ethan Sayler will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee. There will be military rites at graveside by L. A. Wescott Post #2253 of the V.F.W. On line condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com

Gerald was born April 29, 1928 in Cherokee, Iowa to William Franklin and Ruth (Mosier) Coburn. He attended country school until the 8th grade and graduated from Cleghorn High School. He was married to Dorothy Thorson on November 2, 1952 at Sioux City, Iowa. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War from 1952 until 1955. He was a 50 year member in the Classic Car Club of America, the Serpaci Club, the Mayflower Society and the Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Dorothy Coburn on April 17, 2001.

He is survived by a son James Coburn of Cherokee, Iowa; a daughter Julie Eisenman and her husband John of Greeley, Colorado; two granddaughters: Emily Eisenman of Greeley, Colorado and Molly Eisenman of Fort Collins, Colorado.
