GERALD L. "JERRY" GOODBURN, 86, of Cherokee, Iowa and former rural Cleghorn, Iowa resident, passed away Friday, June 12, 2015 at Cherokee Villa Nursing & Rehab Center.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 15th, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Magrey deVega will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee. There will be a family prayer service at 1:45 p.m. at the Church on Monday. Visitation will be on Sunday from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home with the family present from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. On line condolences may be sent to www.boothbyfuneral.com. Gerald was born September 21, 1928 at Marcus, Iowa to Henry G. and Alma (Reusch) Goodburn. He attended Marcus schools and graduated in 1946. He was married to Marjorie Williams on January 16, 1949 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Gerald farmed all his life around Marcus, Fielding and then Cleghorn area, retiring and moving to Cherokee in 1996. He was a member of the square dancing and camping club, the State Line Travelers #037 and the neighborhood group card party. Mowing and grooming his yard was a favorite pastime and he was also the "Mr. Fix-it Repairman." He enjoyed time spent with family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Leota and Tobias Schindler, Elmer Goodburn, Donald Goodburn, Esther Green Wolfe and Vernon Green, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Gene and Darlene Williams, sister-in-law Geraldine Williams and a nephew Dwayne Schindler.

He is survived by his wife Marjorie, and four children; Douglas Goodburn and his wife Cindra of Cherokee, IA; Marilyn Fassler and her husband Steve of Yankton, S.D.; Pamela Goodburn of Houston, TX; Julie Prunty and her husband Kevin of Cleghorn, IA; 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren: Kim (Kyle) Robinson and their children Emily and Logan; Nathan Goodburn; Lynnette (Kevin) Hillabolt and their children Sophia and Derek; Lee Fassler; Trevor Goodburn and his son Cyler; Melissa (Rudy) Fors and their children William, Brant and Reagan; Karissa (Ben) Hays and their children Riley, Jurzee, Devin and Elizabeth; Amanda Prunty; Jennifer (Mitch) Rock; two sisters-in-law, Betty Goodburn of Marcus, IA and Leila Goodburn Wolfe of Cherokee, IA; two brothers-in-law, Irvin (Opal) Williams of Cherokee, IA; George Williams of Cherokee, IA; many nieces and nephews.
