Geraldine (Jerry) Larson , beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and matriarch of our family, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2023 at the age of 96.

A Celebration of Life and memorial service will be held for Jerry on Saturday, July 1,  2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cherokee, Iowa.  Pastor Mike Agnew will officiate.  There will be no visitation. Burial will be made in the Liberty Cemetery at rural Meriden, Iowa.  Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com.

Jerry was born September 26, 1926 at home on the family farm near Quimby, Iowa to Ernest and Alice (Hunter) Fassler. Jerry attended Grades 1-8 at a one room schoolhouse in Rock Township. She graduated High school from Quimby Consolidated in Quimby in 1944. After graduation she worked for 2.5 years at a bank in Cherokee.

Jerry married Herbert Larson, the love of her life, in 1946. Together they had two sons Steven and James. Jerry and Herb operated Cherokee Concrete Products for 37 years garnering loyal employees and customers and a reputation for high quality products. Growing up on the family farm instilled in Jerry a work ethic and fairness to others that she carried throughout her life.

Jerry was always a woman of strong faith and she enjoyed her church family at St. Paul's United Methodist Church where she was a member for nearly 75 years. (It is the same church where she and Herb were married). She also taught Sunday School and was a member of the United Methodist Women's Joy circle.

Jerry enjoyed golf, both playing and watching. Many knew her as the lady behind the 8th green, who would watch their golf shots and then give a quick wave or hello as they moved to the 9th Tee . The 8th hole is also where Herb shot a hole in one on one of his many golf rounds.

She was a lifelong bridge player and cribbage player. (She played cards with friends up until a few weeks ago and was still hard to beat ). Jerry was an avid sports fan and In later years she completely enjoyed following her favorite and varied sports teams and discussing the results and knowledge of the teams with her friends and family.

Jerry was very musical, played the piano and sang and cheered on her musical family. Jerry always enjoyed spending time with her children, 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Even as recently as her 96th birthday she would still be cooking and hosting as her family gathered from Wisconsin and Colorado.

Jerry thoroughly enjoyed her time at The Beck for the last year and a half meeting new friends and renewing old friendships. She always expressed her gratitude for the amazing staff and community of residents.

Jerry was preceded in death by her husband Herb, brother Robert Fassler, sister-in-law Marge Fassler, brother Warren Fassler all from Cherokee and sister, Roberta Wilcox, and Brother-in-law Douglas Wilcox from Broomfield Colorado.

Jerry was known for her warm personality and optimistic outlook. Those who met Jerry will remember her infectious smile and the twinkle in her eye. Jerry will be deeply missed by friends and family.

The family especially wishes to thank Drs. Loughlin and Parker and the staff of Cherokee Regional Medical Center for their kindness and care they offered Jerry in her final days and to Kenny and Vicki Fassler (Jerry's nephew and his wife) for their undying support, love and companionship for many years.
