GINA LYNN EDWARDS, 56 of rural Washta, Iowa, passed away Tuesday morning, July 12, 2016 in the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa following a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 16th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Quimby Baptist Church in Quimby, Iowa. Pastor Charles Cuffman will officiate. Burial will be in the Quimby Cemetery. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the church on Saturday. Visitation will be on Friday from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Gina was born on July 28, 1959 at Cherokee, Iowa to Monteno and Bev (Zupp) Leonard. She attended Willow Community Schools and later obtained her G.E.D. She was married to Patrick Edwards on June 30, 1979 at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa. She was a hard worker at whatever job she was doing. Gina enjoyed going catfishing, watching the birds, gardening, time spent with her family, friends and especially her two grandsons. She was a member of the Quimby Baptist Church where she had served as secretary for several years, was active in the Vacation Bible School program and all of the other groups and activities. She had been a resident of the Washta area most of her life.
She was preceded in death by a brother Zane Leonard, paternal grandparents Arnold and Marvel Leonard, maternal grandparents Cliff and LueAlice Zupp.
She is survived by her husband Patrick; a son Lucas (Megan) Edwards of Washta, Iowa; two grandsons Colton and Tucker Edwards; parents Monteno and Bev Leonard of Washta, Iowa; siblings: Monica (Cole) Bremer of Holstein, Iowa; Tina Bernard of Sioux City, Iowa; Grant Leonard of Jacksonville, Florida; Barry (Rhonda) Leonard of Bentonville, Arkansas; all of the Edwards family and several special nieces and nephews, and many friends.
