GLENN O. DOUPE, 85, of Iowa Falls, Iowa, passed away peacefully, Sunday morning, February 4, 2018 at his residence.
Graveside services with military rites will be held on Saturday, February 10th, at 2 p.m. at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Cris Decious will officiate. There will be no visitation. Glenn was born February 23, 1932 at Cherokee, Iowa to Arthur & Marvel (Bonsall) Doupe. He graduated from Cherokee Wilson High School in 1952. He graduated from the Methodist School of Nursing in Sioux City, Iowa and later obtained a degree in Health Care Administration from the University of Iowa. Glenn was married to Dorothy French in May of 1954 at Elk Point, South Dakota. To this union, three children were born; Terry, Penny and Kim. They were divorced in 1997 and Dorothy passed away in 2010. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1952 – 1956 as medical technician with a rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class. Following his service to his country he worked 4 years at Methodist Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa, 2 years at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee, Iowa, 10 years for Drs. Hicks, Howard & Parish at the URO Clinic, 25 years as Nursing Home Administrator of Scenic Manor in Iowa Falls, retiring in 1993. Following retirement Glenn continued his work with farm animals for Iowa Select Farms for 10 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist in Iowa Falls. Over the years he had been active in several organizations including the V.F.W. American Legion. Rotary, Kiwanis, and the American College of Health Care Administrators of which he had been the Iowa Chapter President for 8 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Lee E. Doupe and a granddaughter Tera Doupe.
He is survived by his three children: Terry Doupe of Kiowa, Colorado; Penny (Michael) Hofer of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Kim (Tim) Wilson of Iowa Falls, Iowa; 7 grandchildren: Josh Doupe, Tess Doupe, Tanner Doupe; Joey (Sarah) Hofer, Sam Hofer, Becca Wilson, and Mac Wilson; two great granddaughters: Sawyer Ray Hofer and Paisley Kay Doupe.
