HAROLD D. ALLBAUGH, 99, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Thursday, July 21, 2011 at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 26th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Jon Riggert will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the Church on Tuesday. Visitation will be on Monday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. On line condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com
Harold was born May 12, 1912 at Thurston, Nebraska to Wilbur and Anna (Barnes) Allbaugh. He attended school in Thurston. He was married to Viola Marie Sievers on December 17, 1937 at Wisner, Nebraska. Harold had farmed, worked as a welder for Caswell Manufacturing and also as a maintenance man at the Cherokee Mental Health Institute, retiring in 1975. He had resided at The Gardens the past 3 years, in Cherokee for many years and had also lived in Quimby. he was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, dancing and watching baseball, especially the Minnesota Twins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a great granddaughter Lynn Wettels on November 1, 1999, a sister LaNora French and a nephew Bob French.
He is survived by his wife, Viola, 5 children and their spouses: Sandra & William King of Vergas, Minnesota; Willis & Joyce Allbaugh of Quimby, Iowa; Patricia Berg of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Dennis & Jonita Allbaugh of Schuyler, Nebraska; Marcia & Donnie Burch of Cherokee, Iowa; 18 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and a sister Phyllis Nolte of Wayne, Nebraska.
