Harold was born June 27, 1934 in Larrabee, IA to Elmer and Christine (Nielsen) Jacobson. He served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, and later served in the Nebraska Air National Guard during the Vietnam conflict. He was married to Elaine Delores (Franklin) Jacobson on Dec 29, 1959 (herself an honorary Admiral in the Nebraska State Navy), and together they raised three sons in Nebraska. In addition to several long-standing positions in Lincoln, Harold owned his own Heating and Air Conditioning company. He was a proud member of the American Legion, and for a time enjoyed flying small aircraft, and participating in demolition derbies (one of his cars had the name of Elaine painted on the driver's side door).
He is survived by his three sons: Don and David Jacobson of Lincoln Nebraska, and Dale Jacobson of Gloucester Virginia; five grandchildren: Jennifer and Trevor of Lincoln Nebraska, Allison and Jennifer of Saint Joseph Missouri, and Melissa of Salem Virginia; numerous great-grandchildren including Melissa's brand new boy Jacob Looney who was able to FaceTime his great-papaw just last week; numerous nieces and nephews; and Don's dog, Brooks.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine, who passed away on May 24, 2009; his parents Elmer and Christine; his three brothers, Earl, Norman and Dale; his two sisters, Mildred and Violet; most of his best friends; and around twenty dogs.
