Obituary

HAROLD B. JOHNSON, 87, of Cleghorn, Iowa passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025 at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at the First Church of Christ in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor David Hall will officiate.  Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at Liberty Township Cemetery.  Visitation will take place on Monday, March 24, 2025 starting at 4:00 p.m. with the family present from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa.  Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com .

Harold was born on February 14, 1938 to Herb and Gladys (Wilcox) Johnson at Cleghorn, Iowa.  He attended Cleghorn School.  He was united in marriage to Connie Skaggs at the Cleghorn Christian Church on October 4, 1958. Together they raised three sons, Bruce, Keith, and Kevin.

Harold was a farmer and also worked for the Cleghorn Elevator.  He was a member of the First Church of Christ in Cherokee, Iowa and served on the Marcus Coop Gas Board. In his free time, he enjoyed going on tractor rides across the Midwest and refurbishing old tractors.  He loved going on motorcycle rides with his wife, Connie, traveling across the Midwest, riding over 140,000 miles.  He especially loved farming, spending time with his family, being outdoors, and going hunting and fishing.  Some notable memories included going skydiving in Arizona and traveling to Singapore to see his son, Keith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herb and Gladys Johnson, stepfather Paul Nielsen, granddaughter Krista Johnson, and sister-in-law Ruby Johnson.

Harold will be greatly missed by his wife, Connie of Cleghorn, Iowa; three sons, Bruce and Leah Johnson of Cherokee, Iowa, Keith and Stephanie Johnson of Ponce Inlet, Florida, and Kevin and Kelly Johnson of Adel, Iowa; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, Kyle and Libby Johnson, Nathan and Tali Johnson and their daughter, Elsie, Tiffany and Justin Vanderwerf and their sons Beckett and Caden, Mercedes and Hiroki Miura and their children Tenley and Westin, Marcus Johnson, Kaylee and Beau Menke and their sons Dane and Clay, and Kamron Johnson; as well as his brother, Larry Johnson, of Cherokee, Iowa.
