Obituary

HAROLD STEVENSON, 79, of Cherokee, Iowa and former Spencer, Iowa resident, passed away Monday, August 2, 2010 at Countryside Estates in Cherokee.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 5th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Ethan Sayler will officiate. Burial will be in the North Lawn Cemetery at Spencer, Iowa. There will be military rites at graveside. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. On line condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com

Harold was born May 19, 1931 in Cherokee County, Iowa to John and Mabel (McCannon) Stevenson. He graduated from Quimby High School in 1949. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U. S. Army. He was married to LaVonne Hughes on February 9, 1952 at Spencer, Iowa. She passed away on July 27, 1997. Harold had worked for Omar Bread Co. and Wonder Bread Co. for many years and also worked for the Hy-Vee Food Store in Spencer. He was married to Joan Fox on October 26, 2006 in Cherokee. He had lived in Cherokee the past 4 years, prior to this in
Spencer. He was affiliated with the Memorial Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed golfing, flowers and working in his yard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Allen Stevenson and a sister.

He is survived by his wife Joan, two daughters: Barbara Meyer and her husband Dave of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Teri Stevenson of Spencer, Iowa; two step-children; Mike Fox and his wife Deb of Cherokee, Iowa; Julie Case and her husband Rich of Cherokee, Iowa; 3 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren; 5 step great grandchildren; a sister Shirley Morton of Boise, Idaho
