Obituary

HAZEL I. MOORE , 85, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away, Saturday morning, April 19, 2014 in the Countryside Estates.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 23 rd , at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cherokee. Rev. Magrey deVega will officiate. Burial will be in the Good Hope Cemetery, north of Correctionville, Iowa. There will be a family prayer service at

10:15 a.m. at the church on Wednesday. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Online condolences can be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com

Hazel was born on August 12, 1928 at Sioux City, Iowa to Charles & Sarah (Jenkins) Hubbard. She graduated from Washta High School. She was married to George F. Moore on August 12, 1946 at Dakota City, Nebraska. Following their marriage, they moved to Cherokee. Hazel worked at the West Cedar Grocery Store, Baumann's Bakery for many years, Lee's Hardware and at Kmart until her retirement. She was a member of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church. She loved playing cards and collecting pigs. She enjoyed bowling, baking and spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George on August 12, 2012, a granddaughter Elizabeth Moore, 3 half-brothers Chet, Rip and Bill Bahrke.

She is survived by her two sons: David (Diane) Moore of Larrabee, Iowa; Allen (Jan) Moore of Sioux City, Iowa; 6 grandchildren: 14 great grandchildren and 2 step-great grandchildren: Wendy (Chris) Richardson and their children Taylor & Tyler; Wade (Cherlynn) Moore and their children Logan & Allison; Willow (Brian) McLaughlin and their children Johnathan Slay, Alyssa Stanton, Grace McLaughlin and step-great grandchildren Chance & Hayden McLaughlin; Christopher (Tiffany) Moore and their children Quinn, Alaine, Lorna & Niles; Janal Davis and her children Kaityn and Keith; Jason (Kelina) Moore and their daughter Tori; 2 brothers-in-law and 1 sister-in-law: Stanley Moore of Huntsville, Missouri; Frank (Pat) Moore of Las Vegas, Nevada; Mary (Larry) Conley of Omaha, Nebraska; also several nieces and nephews.
