Obituary

HAZEL N. SCHULTZE, 99, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Saturday evening, February 25, 2017 in the Cherokee Specialty Care.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 6th, at 10 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Jean Morse will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee, Iowa. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 5th, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral home with the family present from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Hazel was born on March 27, 1917 at Sheldon, Iowa to Herman & Bertha (Lutz) Brunk. She graduated from Sheldon High School. She was married to Robert E. Schultze on September 12, 1937 at Sheldon, Iowa. The couple moved to Cherokee, Iowa in 1941. Hazel was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and volunteering at the Cherokee Villa (Cherokee Specialty Care) and the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert on December 16, 1998, a daughter Carol Carpenter, an infant son Jerry Ray Schultze, a brother Clarence (Betty) Brunk, a sister Mabel (Harold) Wolf, a sister-in-law Mabel (Charlie) Vifian.

She is survived by her son: Dennis Schultze of West Saint Paul, Minnesota; son-in-law: Dennis Carpenter of Cambridge, Minnesota; 6 grandchildren: Troy Carpenter, Todd Carpenter, Traci Carpenter, Carl (Tyghre) Schultze, Cassie Knutson, Nick Schultze; 8 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews.
