IDA LOUISE (KIRCHOFF) OHLENDORF, 94, of Taylorsville, North Carolina and former longtime rural Remsen resident, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013 in North Carolina.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 31st, at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Marcus, Iowa. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the Church. Pastor Don Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. The Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa has charge of the arrangements. Ida was born September 24, 1918 to Elon and Louisa "Lizzie" (Wagner) Kirchoff. She graduated from Marcus High School in 1938. Ida and Weldon were married at Trinity Lutheran Church, Marcus, Iowa on March 21, 1941. Their marriage was blessed with five children. Ida farmed with her husband for over 50 years in Amherst Township, Cherokee County, Iowa. She had been active in the Church Choir, the Alter Guild, taught Sunday School for many years at Trinity Lutheran Church and was a member of a neighborhood card club. She enjoyed flowers and nature. Ida had lived in Taylorsville, N.C. the past 8 years, prior to this on the family farm.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Weldon Ohlendorf, Sr., her three brothers Lester Kirchoff, Glen Kirchoff and Lee Kirchoff. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Joan Ohlendorf Daniels, her son Weldon Ohlendorf, Jr. and her daughter Joyce Ohlendorf.
She is survived by her daughter Mrs. Mary Hartman and her husband Gerald Hartman of LeMars, Iowa; her son Rev. Ray Ohlendorf and his wife Beverly of Taylorsville, North Carolina; thirteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, a sister-in-law Grace Kirchoff of Cherokee, Iowa.
