IRMA "DAISY" BOOTHBY, 88, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Friday, March 13, 2009 at her home in Cherokee following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 17th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Ethan D. Sayler will officiate. Burial will be in the Prairie View Cemetery at Paullina, Iowa. Visitation will be on Monday from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. with the family present from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Irma May Henderson was born May 19, 1920 near Paullina, Iowa in Cherokee County to Orville "Slim" and Hazel (Carlson) Henderson. She attended school in Paullina, Iowa and Santa Monica, Calif., graduating from Paullina in 1939. She futhered her education at Los Angeles Technical College and Sioux Falls College. She was married to Laurence Ehrich on March 11, 1942 in Glendale, California. She had worked as a telephone operator in Paullina, McAllen, TX. and Los Angeles from 1936 until 1942. She was a librarian in Cherokee from 1965 until 1978 and had also worked for Young American in Minnesota, retiring in 1982. She was married to Thomas D. Boothby on September 9, 1989 at Spirit Lake, Iowa. She had lived in Cherokee for 43 years, in Hutchinson, Minnesota for 4 years and Evening Shade, Arkansas for 8 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons Terry Ehrich and Joe Ehrich, a daughter-in-law Diane (Sump) Ehrich, a brother and sister-in-law Russell and Doreen Henderson.

She is survived by her husband Tom; her daughter Kae Soost and her husband Howard of Arlington, MN; daughters-in-law: Connie McDermott of Evening Shade, AR; Margaret Spiller of Ft. Collins, CO; Sally Shae Ehrich of Boseman, MT; five step-children: Margaret (Larry) Simmon of Springfield, MO; Richard (Roberta) Boothby of Cherokee; Barbara (Layne) Stratton of Alvin, TX; David (Gigi) Boothby of Cherokee; Elaine (Tim) Elsbury of Houston, TX; grandchildren: Joshua Soost of St. Anthony, MN; Daniel Soost and girl friend Bethany Whiteley of Bella Vista, AR; Jennifer Soost of Mankato, MN; Deanna Soost of Delano, MN; Chad Ehrich of Delano, MN; Amy (Matthew) Brown of Newark, AR; Matthew (Amanda) Spiller of Broomfield, CO; step-grandchildren: Jeremy, Kari & Brandy Shae; Jean (Tom) Harrington; Joshua (Amber) Simmon; Andy Simmon; Pete (Kristin) Boothby; T.R.(Amanda) Boothby; Jill Erickson; Abbey (Danny) Phillips; Jennifer (Mike) Nixon; Matthew & Michael Boothby; Megan & Sarah Elsbury; great grandchildren: Cameron & Joseph Spiller; Catherine & Ashlynne Ehrich; step-great grandchildren: Logan, Taylor & Travis Erickson; Tyler & Mason Boothby; Cameron & Emily Boothby; Garrett Glass; Evan Simmon, Cooper Nixon; sisters-in-law: Dian (Robert) Erdman of Cherokee, Ia; Mildred Moses of Madison, WI; Arlene (Dick) Deichmann of Venice, FL; Lois (Robert) Montgomery) of Sedona, AZ; a brother-in-law Floyd (Betty) Ehrich of Cherokee, Ia.; a special friend Vera Swanson of Hutchinson, MN; numerous nieces and nephews.
