Obituary

JACK C. FORESMAN, 86 of rural Cleghorn, Iowa passed away Friday morning, March 3, 2017 with his family by his side at the Heartland Care Center in Marcus, Iowa.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, March 7th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church in Marcus, Iowa. Pastor Ron Rice and Pastor Bob Blair will officiate. Burial and military rites will be in the Mt Pleasant Cemetery at rural Marcus, Iowa at a later date.. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the church on Tuesday. Visitation will be on Monday from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church in Marcus with the family present from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the church on Monday. Jack was born on February 8, 1931 at Cherokee, Iowa to George and Amelia (Schutt) Foresman. He graduated from Cleghorn High School in 1948 and then graduated from Wayne State College. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from August of 1952 until May of 1954. Jack was married to Lillian Jorgensen on August 14, 1955 at Scribner, Nebraska. He had been a resident of rural Cleghorn; farmed and raised livestock most of his life and was also a real estate agent. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and had been a longtime member of the Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church before it was closed. He was a member of the Cherokee County Cattleman's Association, Red Power Tractor Club, former Cherokee County Supervisor and had served on the Meriden-Cleghorn School Board; had been the starter for track meets in the area for 62 years. He was inducted into the Iowa Athletic Association Track Hall of Fame for being a longtime starter and the Hershey Track Hall of Fame. He loved hunting and fishing, riding his tractors in the parade, and spending time with family attending the grandchildren's activities.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons Greg and Jay Foresman.

He is survived by his wife Lillian of 61 years; a son Lee (Gina) Foresman of Cleghorn, Iowa; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren: Nathan (Larie) Foresman and their sons Colton and Case of Cherokee, Iowa; Chad (Meagan) Foresman of Quimby, Iowa; Kayla Foresman of Cleghorn, Iowa and her special friend Mitchell Means of Marcus, Iowa.
