JAMES L. HILL, 80 , of Paullina, Iowa passed away Wednesday May 12, 2021 in the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa.  Pastor Don Meyer will officiate.  Public visitation with the family present will take place an hour before the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Burial will be made in the Afton Township Cemetery at rural Cherokee, Iowa. James Leroy Hill was born on November 21, 1940 in Cherokee, Iowa to Charles and Mary (Barlow) Hill.  He attended Aurelia Schools.  He began working for Ziegler in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1979 as a demo operator and worked there until he transferred to their Altoona, Iowa branch in May 2006.  He retired from Ziegler in April 2007.

He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church at Paullina, Iowa.  He was always extremely hardworking and had a great sense of humor.  He enjoyed riding his motorcycle around the United States with his longtime companion Joyce. He loved having morning coffee with the guys, eating chicken and fries at The Hideout in Germantown and watching Andy Griffith every night. He loved his kids and grandkids dearly.

James is preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister Marilyn, sister Carol Otto, brother David Hill, great-granddaughter Allana, and longtime companion Joyce Leckband.

Left to cherish James' memory are his three children Charles (Vicki) Hill of Meriden, Iowa, Tracey Hill of Paullina, Iowa and Tonya Hill of Montrose, Minnesota, twelve grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; Joshua (Courtney) Hill and their children Mason and Lincoln; Randy (Kelsey) Hale and their children Dayde and Zoey; Derek (Kelli) Hill and their children Brody, Jackson, and Ethan; Zach (Shanon) Hill and their children Raegan, Bentley, and Jaxton; Brooke O'Neil; Cassie Joslyn and her daughter Payton; Corey Joslyn; Isaiah Hellman; Kylee Pierce and her children Kaiden and Kyson; Miranda Heyer and her daughter  Shelby; Kloee Richter; and Gavin Richter; brother Duane Hill of Cherokee, Iowa and sister Dianne (Roy) Lyons of Orange Park, Florida.
