JAMES N. "Jim" HALSTROM, 84, of rural Meriden, Iowa, passed away Thursday morning, June 29, 2023 at Cherokee Specialty Care in Cherokee, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 3, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Oakdale Evangelical Free Church in Meriden, Iowa.  Pastor Tyler Stauffer will officiate.  Burial will be in the Liberty Township Cemetery at Meriden, Iowa.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 2, 2023 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with the family present from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Jim was born on June 30, 1938 to Leonard and Edith (Anderson) Halstrom at their farm home in Meriden, Iowa.  He attended Meriden Schools, graduating in 1957.  Jim was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed raising cattle.

He was active with the Oakdale Evangelical Free Church and was a faithful usher.

In Jim's free time he enjoyed attending auctions, going boating, visiting with family and friends, helping the neighbors, and going to Dairy Queen.  He liked visiting people at the local nursing homes with his brother, Marvin. He loved a good meal that ended with pie and ice cream.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Milton (Marjorie, Gwen) Halstrom, Ruby (Max) Pixler, Marvin (Sharon) Halstrom, Arlene (Delbert) Carlson, Phyllis (Roger) Smith, Lorraine (Robert) Mortenson, infant sister, Deloris Halstrom, and brother-in-law, Tom Steele.

Jim is survived by his sister, Bernice Steele of Spirit Lake, Iowa; also many nieces and nephews.
