JAMES D. 'JIM' PREUSS, 84, of Quimby, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday evening, June 10, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family.
Public visitation with the family present will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com.
In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to the family for a future project in Jim's honor.
Private family memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at the Pilgrim Lutheran Church. Rev. Alex Kaldahl will officiate. Burial will be held at a later date in the Grandview Cemetery at Quimby, Iowa.
Jim was born on December 16, 1940 to August and Charlotte (Hayes) Preuss at Ballington, Minnesota. He attended Quimby Consolidated Schools. He was united in marriage to Sharon Kay Streittmatter on July 28, 1962 at Ryan, Iowa.
He worked at Coggon Creamery in Eastern Iowa. He was a truck driver for Phillips and Phillips Trucking in Storm Lake, Hallett Materials and Hy-Vee Warehouse, retiring in 2021.
He was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Quimby, Iowa.
He loved playing cards, throwing cornhole bags, working on small engines, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, camping, stock car races, going to demo derbys, and spending time with his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids, that he cherished.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Robert Preuss and Lawrence Preuss.
Jim will lovingly be remembered by his wife Sharon of Quimby, Iowa; four children Tina (Jerry) Paulsen of Holstein, Iowa, Terry (Rani) Preuss of Cherokee, Iowa, Tim (Lisa) Preuss of Quimby, Iowa, and Travis (Crystal) Preuss of Quimby, Iowa; 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; two sisters Betty Schirmer of Cherokee, Iowa and Patty Kerr of Des Moines, Iowa; also several nieces and nephews.
