Jamie Wain Draper passed away at the age of 49 on Sunday, December 28, 2025 at his mother Millie Bruhn and stepfather, Tim Bruhn's home at Spirit Lake, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2026 at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa located at 207 E. Main Street. Visitation with the family present will be held an hour prior to the service beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Monday morning. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Aurelia, Iowa. Pastor Merritt Demski will officiate.
Jamie was born on September 30, 1976 to Jeffrey Wain and Millie (Jones) Draper at Cherokee, Iowa. He attended Cherokee Schools and graduated from Washington High School with the Class of 1995. When he was younger he enjoyed playing baseball and was on the Cherokee-Aurelia CABA team. He attended college after graduation at Western Community College in Storm Lake, Iowa. He worked for Mike Rose installing windows and Dean Jones Construction as well as Wilson's Packing House in Cherokee.
He moved to Arizona and worked as a personal trainer and body guard for women. After 12 years, he returned to Iowa and worked for Mongan Painting, Hy-Vee Warehouse and a new truck stop in LeMars. He most recently was working in Spirit Lake, Iowa assisting adults with special needs.
In his free time, Jamie enjoyed weightlifting, spending time with family and friends, cars, watching sports, listening to music, playing poker, and taking care of his fur baby, Boomer.
He was preceded in death by his father Jeffrey Wain Draper, grandparents James and Helen Draper, uncle James Draper, Jr., cousin Mark Draper, grandparents John and Lucille Jones, aunt Marie Jones, uncle Tim Jones, cousins Shannon and Selena, and Scott Jones, and uncle-in-law Jim Beck.
Jamie will be greatly missed by his mother and stepfather Millie and Tim Bruhn; sister Misty (Brian) Patterson and their son Gavin; stepsister Tiffany Christensen and her daughters Taylor and Kylie Christensen; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; special Friend Jandi Kulaga; his fur baby Boomer. The family thanks his friend Lynette for all the wonderful care and assistance she provided to him.
