JANET KAY SLEEZER, 76 , of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2023 at Unity Point Health in Sioux City, Iowa.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Johnathan Caldwell will officiate. Visitation with the family present will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Services will be livestreamed on the Boothby Funeral Home website through the assistance of Fuller Digital Solutions. Online condolences may be left at www. boothbyfuneral.com.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Cherokee Washington High School Class of 1965 scholarship fund.
Janet was born on March 14, 1947 to Harry and Gladyce (Good) Lowder at Cherokee, Iowa. She attended Cherokee Schools, graduating in 1965 from Washington High School.
She was united to Roger Sleezer on November 19, 1966 at the Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cherokee, Iowa.
Janet worked in the printing and production department for Cherokee Community Schools until her retirement in 2013.
She was a member of the Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cherokee. Janet belonged to the Iowa Retired School Personnel group and was an original member of the restoration committee for the Cherokee Train Depot.
In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, plant care, baking delicious goodies, and spending time with dear friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Dennis Lowder.
Janet is survived by her husband, Roger of Cherokee, Iowa; two sons, Warren Sleezer (Tasha Grenier) of Las Vegas, Nevada and Aaron (Susan) Sleezer of Lebanon, Tennesse; six grandchildren, Alicia (Chad) Bechtel of Ankeny, Iowa, Jeffrey (Amber) Sand of Grimes, Iowa, Cole (Jamie) Renken of Sioux City, Iowa, Savannah Sleezer of Henderson, Nevada, Kathryn Sleezer of Lebanon, Tennessee, and Kyle Sleezer of Lebanon, Tennessee; 8 great grandchildren; sister, Judy Van House of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; also many beloved nieces, nephews, and family members.
