JAY BARTON SIEFKEN,60 , passed away Monday morning, September 14, 2015 at his home in Cherokee.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 19th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Jon Riggert will officiate. Burial will be at the Lone Tree Cemetery at Sioux Rapids, Iowa on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. Visitation will be on Friday from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. with the family present from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Jay was born February 28, 1955 at Storm Lake, Iowa to Richard and Norma (Haroldson) Siefken. He was baptized and confirmed in Our Savior Lutheran Church at Rembrandt. He attended Rembrandt Consolidated Schools, graduating in 1973. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force as an airplane mechanic. He was married to Lori Stough on January 16, 1993 in Cherokee, Iowa. Jay had worked for Wilson (Tyson) Foods for 17 years in the maintenance department. He had been working for First Coop Association in Cherokee the past 8 years as a truck driver, retiring in July of 2015 due to his health. He had lived in Cherokee for many years, prior to this in Phoenix, AZ, Terra Haute, IN; and was originally from the Rembrandt area.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, tractors, woodworking, and spending time with his family, especially the grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter Ariel Connor and two nephews Chad & Eric Siefken, and a niece Emily Thompson.

He is survived by his wife, Lori, daughter Meghan Siefken (Gary Benson) of Everly, IA; step-daughter Michelle Stough (Tim Connor) of Cherokee, IA; step-son Tyler Stough of Johnston, IA; 3 grandchildren Addisyn & Amara Connor, Kaeley Benson and one grandchild on the way; nine brothers and sisters; Maggie (Dave) Aaberg of Pelican Rapids, MN; Nancy (Dennis) Falline of Washington, IA; Carol Siefken of Washington, IA; Jan (Brad) Kamies of Orleans, IA; Tom Siefken of Cherokee, IA; Karen (Dennis) Roberts of Cornell, IA; Greg (Angie) Siefken of Storm Lake, IA; Paula (Roger) Lamoureux of Columbia, Mo; Susan Reeves and special friend Kevin McGee of Peterson, IA; many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and many close friends and loved ones and numerous other relatives.
