JEANETTE B. GRAHAM, 90, of rural Quimby, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at Cherokee Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 3rd, at 2 p.m. at the Quimby United Methodist Church. Pastor Magrey deVega will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee. There will be a family prayer service at 1:45 p.m. at the Church on Saturday. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. On line condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com

Jeanette was born November 27, 1918 on the family farm at Primghar, Iowa to Charlie & Mern Syble (Potter) Vollink. She graduated from Archer High School in 1936. She attended Junior College at Sheldon, Iowa and graduated from Kalhouns Beauty School in Sioux City, Iowa in 1938. Jeanette had worked as a cosmetologist in Battle Creek from 1938 until 1940. She then operated Jean's Beauty Shop in Quimby from 1940 until 1947. She was married to Robert M. Graham on December 15, 1947 at Dakota City, Nebraska. From that day on she was the "Farm manager" "Part time family beautician" "Chief cook and dill pickle maker" and the "Blue Ribbon community gravy maker." The most important roles in her life were that of being a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, friend, and neighbor. She was a member of the Quimby United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the Entre-Nous card club. She had also been a 4-H leader and a Cub Scout den mother. She enjoyed dancing with her husband, sewing, gardening, canning, cooking, and playing cards.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert on October 13, 2002, a son-in-law Tim Dorr, a sister and brother-in-law Marian and Glen Olson, a brother-in-law Cal Walbright, a sister-in-law Thelma Vollink, and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law Mary and Bill Smith.

She is survived by her 6 children: Linda Graham of Iowa City, Iowa; Dennis Graham and his wife Linda Gottlieb of Carpentersville, Illinois; Gloria Dorr of West Branch, Iowa; Steven Graham of Quimby, Iowa; Larry Graham and his wife Elva of Spirit Lake, Iowa; Gary Graham and his wife Holly of Peterson, Iowa; 14 grandchildren: Tracy, Tricia, Eric, Katie, Nathan, Dustin, Stevie Marisa, Kelsey, Marnie, Jordan, Rebecca, Rochelle, and Preston; 11 great grandchildren; a brother Jim Vollink and his wife Eileen of Spirit Lake, Iowa; a sister Charlotte Walbright of Moline, Illinois and a brother Carl Vollink and his wife Doris of Hudson, Massachusetts.
