Jeffrey D. Burkhardt, 48, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Sunday, September 20, 2026 in the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota after a brief battle with cancer. 

Visitation with the family present will be on Monday, September 28, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home located at 207 E. Main St., Cherokee, Iowa. Private family graveside services will be held. Pastor Philip Beisswenger will officiate. Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com.

 In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorials be made to support the future expenses and needs of their children. 

Jeff was born on October 25, 1977 to Bill and Karen (Harms) Burkhardt at Cherokee, Iowa. He attended school in Cherokee and graduated in 1996. Jeff went to High Performance Auto School in Lima, Ohio and then finished his schooling at NCC in Sheldon. He began working at Top Notch Repair and then went to drive truck for the Hy-Vee Distribution Center. 

He was married to LeAnn Kacmarynski on June 16, 2007 at Storm Lake Presbyterian Church. He was a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed spending time with his two children and going to the lake. He was a very well-liked person. 

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and many aunts and uncles. 

Jeff is survived by his wife LeAnn and their 2 children Jada Rose and Wyatt Jeffrey of Cherokee, Iowa, parents Bill and Karen Burkhardt of Cherokee, Iowa, sister Katie Burkhardt of Cherokee, Iowa and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
