Obituary

JERRY D. NIEMEIER, 65, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2015 at his home in Cherokee.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, October 20th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee. Pastor Jon Riggert will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee. There will be military rites by L.A. Wescott Post #2253 of the V.F.W. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the church on Tuesday. Visitation will be on Monday from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Jerry was born on January 18, 1950 at Cherokee, Iowa to Lester & Frances (Roggow) Niemeier. He graduated from Cherokee Washington High School. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U.S. Army. He was married to Laurie Covey on January 25, 1975 at Cherokee, Iowa. He had worked for Culligan in Cherokee for many years. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Jessica Dawn Niemeier on November 9, 1980, paternal grandparents Arnold & Anna Niemeier, maternal grandparents Edward & Ida Roggow.

He is survived by his wife Laurie; two children: Seth Niemeier and special friend Eden Morey of Sioux City, Iowa and their children Kiara and Shylee; Ashlee Niemeier and special friend Josh Mann of Cherokee, Iowa and their children Cade, Taya and Tye; one brother: Larry Niemeier of Cherokee, Iowa; one aunt: Caroline Niemeier of Holstein, Iowa; one uncle Vertis Boysen of Sioux City, Iowa; also three nephews and several cousins.
